Getting Your Priorities Right

You know when you get that feeling when you really want to start from scratch and just level a character without the assistance of heirlooms and gold boosts? Yep I have it.

I really want to level a new Worgen, either a Druid or a Warlock, but its that choice between finishing other alts who were created first, and who would actually benefit my account as a whole vs having a fresh new alt to play around with.

My hunter is level 68, and is my Engineer and was aiming to be ready to make the Pierre pet and all the other lovely things that engineers are getting in the next patch. So technically I should level her and be waiting in the wings with materials ready. On the other hand, there is my lovely Night Elf priest who has just hit level 89 thanks to winning some pvp pet battles the other day, so only 1 more level with her and I can hit LFR's and have a top level enchanter/tailor too. On the other other hand/paw, I never have enough time to completely finish all my tasks on my Deathknight; Complete any LFR, all my pet battle dailies, finish professions, finish brawlers guild, kill world bosses, primal egg grind, actually levelling my companion pets.... I shouldn't even be considering a new alt! But here I am, checking hair styles and thinking of names.

I can't be alone in this struggle for time sharing between characters. How do you guys cope with multiple alts and juggling between them to keep up to date with gear, reputation grinds, recipes or just current content in general?

Obviously my work schedule has taken alot of my time up recently, and clearly thats a big factor in this, but WoW isn't 100% aimed at those who sit day in day out playing, or so they claim ;) Prioritising is the key, but when you have that I WANT A NEW ALT feeling, it's very hard to shake it off!

  1. Start the alt and play it until you've satiated the craving! If your others things get pushed back a bit, it's not the end of the world and you've enjoyed yourself in the meantime, right? :D

    1. Very true, but you know how crazed I am at the moment to actually get Pet Stones from my dailies haha, just want some recognition from the NPCS for beating their sorry asses. By the time thats done, I run out of time :(!

    2. I do! Maybe just do a few at a time so you also have time for other things? :)

  2. I tend to play an alt til I've used the rested, then spend a few days dabbling in grinds/rep/LFR. Then I switch back etc etc. Using rested at low levels only takes a couple of hours so I have the best of both worlds by doing it this way :)

  3. I've just started yet another alt because I was feeling the itch, despite having at least 8 characters currently between 60 and 90 ^^

  4. I'm a bad one for just giving into my feelings, especially when it comes to alts. Unless I'm leveling with someone else, I tend to switch in and out of characters as I feel it.

  5. I have already leveled most of my alts to at least 85 (during the days/nights that I had more time to play). Nowadays, I have a bunch of 85-89s, 4 90s and a 55 warrior. I try to do the old world dailies on my mage with her portals (which takes less than an hour - usually 30 mins if I don't leave the computer at all and have good RNG with battles). So that's 5 bags, 5 possible stones. Then I either level an alt for a bit the old fashioned way, via questing, or level an alt for a bit using pet battles (either the non-bag tamers in the old world or Pandaria dailies depending on which alt). Other times, I spend the whole time doing level 25 pvp battles in the hopes to eventually win enough for the stunted direhorn (each battle won gives xp about equivalent to a quest completed for the level that my alt is). I still feel the "completely new alt itch" sometimes, but then once I start one, I find I am a bit sick of the same old quests that I already did 10+ times.
